Canada's Restaurant Guide Victoria BC - The James Bay Tea Room and Restaurant

to the James Bay Tea Room & Restaurant, we are tucked behind the Provincial Parliament Buildings and a short walk from the Inner Harbour in a humble little white house with black trim and a black and white awning. This turn of the century house was built in 1907, as a family home. Over the ensuing years it has been an integral part of the James Bay neighbourhood. It has housed a general store that sold bulk food items and the like. Then it was a café style diner and in mid-1983 it was transformed into the James Bay Tea Room & Restaurant. Bernd & Yvonne Woerpel have been the proud owner/operators of this world renowned Tea Room since early 1986.

Our Hearty breakfasts, wonderful lunches, and daily Tea Service are available for your enjoyment throughout the day.

On Saturday & Sunday you can also experience our High Tea Service.

We also offer choices such as Black Cod or Bangers & Eggs Steak & Kidney Pies made with Ale Gravy and a real favourite, Welsh Rarebit on Toast. Our made from scratch scones and generous bowl of soup is another delight to the pallet.

Our extensive collection of memorabilia starts in the front hall with a very good Royal Family Tree. Once in side, the dining room the walls and shelves are covered with collectables and one of a kind items. Photos and paintings of Royals, Prime Ministers, Presidents and of course the Tea Room itself. From early June through to the end of October you will be greeted with some of the most beautiful hanging baskets surrounding the outside of the building.

We are open year round from 7:00 am - 5:00 pm Monday - Saturday & 8:00 am - 5:00 pm Sunday. Our wonderful staff and Tea Room look forward to seeing you and yours soon and don't forget to take advantage of our online menu.
